Summer Her, Psy.D.
Psychological Associate PSB 94027521

I received my bachelor’s in psychology from California State University, Fresno and my master’s in clinical counseling as well as my doctorate in clinical psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University, Fresno.

My clinical experiences include working with individuals from across the lifespan with diverse backgrounds and a variety of diagnoses. I have provided mental health services in a domestic violence center, juvenile detention facility, community-based clinic, private practice, community college, and health care system. I have worked with individuals within an individual, family, couples, and group setting. Additionally, I have experience conducting psychodiagnostic evaluations to guide treatment as well as diagnostic assessments with the regional center.

I believe that therapy can be a gateway for individuals to have a better understanding of themselves and their world. As such, I enjoy working with children, adolescents, and young adults to help them navigate life and to have a safe space to express and process their thoughts and emotions. I am neurodivergent affirming, and I am passionate about providing services for marginalized populations. I aim to work from a culturally responsive approach in order to optimize the best care for individuals and their needs.

I have a special interest in providing therapy and assessments for the Asian American population. As a Hmong woman, I am especially interested in providing services for the Hmong community including Hmong children, adolescents, and young adults. Research that I have conducted has focused on domestic violence and healthy relationships in the Hmong community, patriarchal beliefs in the Hmong community, and mental health literacy in the Asian American population.

When I have free time, I love to hang out with my six dogs and take them hiking (5 huskies and 1 aussie!). I love collecting stickers, watching Marvel movies, and going to the beach. My favorite ice cream is Wild ‘N Reckless, and I cannot live without dino nuggets, tacos, sushi, pho, or eggrolls. One of my favorite things to do is learn about the ocean and go swimming with sharks, whales, and sting rays.
